Canyon Foot + Ankle is excited to welcome Dr. Jason Rockwood, DPM, to the practice.

Dr. Jason Rockwood joined Canyon Foot + Ankle in our Twin Falls and Burley offices in October 2021.  He is an important part of our team, providing comprehensive and thoughtful care to all our patients.  Alongside Dr. Pilling, he brings his expertise and experience to all areas of foot and ankle treatment.

He completed his Bachelor of Science at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in 1996. Following his undergraduate studies, he attended medical school at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, California. During his four years in medical school, he also completed a Master’s degree in Medical Education. His final year of clinical training was completed at Yale University and the New Haven Veterans Hospital in Connecticut. He was awarded a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) and Master of Science (MS) in medical education in June of 2000.

Dr. Rockwood is one of only a few podiatrists in the country to receive five years of training after finishing his podiatry degree.  He completed an extensive residency in foot and ankle trauma surgery and reconstructive surgery in Miami, Florida. During his time in Florida, Dr. Rockwood was involved in the FDA trial for a revolutionary total ankle implant and published articles and technique papers on the subject. He has traveled abroad to participate in lectures and perform surgery in many international sites including Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Guatemala, and Germany.  Part of his training included a master's fellowship at the Russian Ilizarov Scientific Center for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopedics in Kurgan, Russia.

Dr. Rockwood has worked in private practice in Florida, Montana, and New Mexico from 2005 to 2021.  He has over 15 years of clinical and surgical experience in simple and complex pathologies of the lower extremity.  He has received additional training in lower extremity nerve surgery and can provide additional treatment options for patients with nerve-related problems. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in Foot Surgery and in Reconstructive Hindfoot and Ankle Surgery.

Dr. Rockwood grew up in the Northwest, originally from Lake Oswego, Oregon and has lived in Idaho, Northern Chile, Utah, California, Connecticut, Florida, Montana and New Mexico. He is fluent in conversational and medical Spanish. His family is central in his life outside of work and includes his wife Jenny, and his four children and son-in-law. His three oldest children all live and have attended school in Idaho.  It has been his dream to relocate and settle in Idaho and enjoy the amazing people and places in the area.  He loves to spend time fly fishing, golfing, and skiing with friends and family.

The addition of Dr. Rockwood to Canyon Foot + Ankle allows us to continue to expand our services and help additional patients in the Twin Falls and Burley area. He provides clinical and surgical care from the urgent ingrown toenail to complicated deformity corrections of the ankle, including total ankle replacement surgery. Our offices in both locations are open daily.  We look forward to seeing you soon!
